About the Conference

INGED International ELT Conference

The INGED International ELT Conference is held biennially and is one of the most important professional gatherings for English language educators in Turkey. The 23rd edition will take place at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University over three days, bringing together classroom teachers, teacher educators, researchers, and education policy professionals for plenary sessions, paper presentations, workshops, and professional networking.

Participants come from across Turkey and from international partner institutions. The conference provides a platform for sharing research findings, classroom innovations, and professional experience in all areas of English language teaching and learning.

All presenters are required to register individually, regardless of the number of authors on a submission. Every participant who will physically attend the conference must complete their own registration and payment separately.

Vanderbilt University, USA

Associate Professor of the Practice in Multilingual Learner Education at Vanderbilt University's Peabody College. Her research centres on language teacher identity, equity, and the intersections of policy and pedagogy in TESOL contexts. She has published in TESOL Journal, Teaching and Teacher Education, and is a co-editor of multiple volumes in language teacher education.

Presenting Online

Emeritus Professor of Instructional Design and CALL at the University of Antwerp and adjunct professor at Ontario Tech University. Former Editor-in-Chief of Computer Assisted Language Learning (IF 7.0) and current editor of Language and Motivation. Co-founder of LatinCALL and former President of EuroCALL; a leading voice in the epistemological foundations of CALL research.

Prof. Robert O'Dowd

Presenting Online

Full Professor for English Studies at the Universidad de León, Spain. He has published extensively on Virtual Exchange and Blended Mobility in higher education, coordinated three Erasmus+ projects, and is recognized in Stanford University's World's Top 2% Scientists (2023–2025). His talk is titled "Virtual Exchange at a Crossroads."

One of Turkey's most spectacular caves, featuring impressive stalactites and stalagmites across its vast chambers. Note: The cave has stairs and uneven surfaces and is cool inside. Comfortable, non-slip shoes and warm clothing are strongly recommended.

The conference is held at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, Taşlıçiftlik Campus, approximately 9 km from Tokat city centre on the Tokat–Amasya road (also the Ankara–Istanbul route).

🚌 Campus Bus

Yellow university buses run from GOP Kız Öğrenci Yurdu along Behzat Bulvarı, turning at Niksar junction via Mevlana and Demirköprü to Taşlıçiftlik Campus. Frequency varies by schedule — look for the yellow buses.

✈️ By Air

The nearest airport is Tokat Airport (TJK), served by Turkish Airlines from Istanbul (IST/SAW) and Ankara (ESB). Transfer to the campus takes approximately 20 minutes by taxi.

🚂 By Train (from Ankara)

Tokat has no train station, but you can still book a ticket to Tokat via TCDD's high-speed rail (YHT) with a connecting shuttle service from Yıldızeli.

During booking, check the Yıldızeli–Tokat shuttle details and select your shuttle seat number

The YHT shuttle connection via Yıldızeli handles the onward leg to Tokat automatically when you book to Tokat as destination.

🚗 By Road

Tokat is on the Ankara–Samsun (D100/E88) highway corridor. From Ankara approximately 4 hours; from Istanbul approximately 7 hours. Campus is signposted on the Tokat–Amasya road.
