ELTER

English Language Teacher Education Research — a community for teacher education researchers and educators in Turkey.

About ELTER

What is ELTER?

ELTER is an organisation primarily for those involved in English Language Teacher Education Research in Turkey. It aims to contribute to the improvement of the overall quality of English language teacher education in Turkey, both pre-service and in-service, by encouraging effective teacher education practices and making recommendations to relevant stakeholders and policy makers.

It also provides a forum for English language teacher educators and researchers — in Turkey and beyond — to discuss and share their practices, experiences, and research.

How It Works

The ELTER Research Cycle

Each annual cycle guides participant groups through five stages from question to publication.

1

Identify a Research Question

Groups identify a shared concern or question arising from their classroom practice or teaching context.

2

Review Relevant Literature

Participants review existing research and theory relevant to their question, with support from ELTER facilitators.

3

Design and Conduct Research

Groups design a manageable classroom-based study and collect data over the research period.

4

Analyse Findings and Write Up

Data is analysed collaboratively and findings are written up as a research report.

5

Share Your Findings

Findings may be shared at the INGED International ELT Conference or through other academic venues — this step is optional.
